Most of us have got one. A boring bog standard (excuse the pun) bathroom which is barely big enough to swing a cat in. And whilst I dream of a bathroom with a roll top bath, separate shower and oodles of storage - I am currently having to make do with what we’ve got. So I thought I’d share some quick and easy ideas to introduce character in the boring, last on the list room.
Get a bath board
A bath board is a really simple and easy way to add some style into your space. For bath lovers they come in all shapes and sizes - there are one’s that will even hold your glass of wine whilst you bathe. I like to dress mine with candles and flowers especially when guests come round. It’s also fab for leaning your book up for a good old self care session.
2. Pick a funky bathmat
One quick and easy way to brighten up any dull small bathroom is to introduce a focal point via the bath mat. Long gone are the days when you had to match your mat to your towels, you can pretty much get any shape, pattern or design from the high street. My personal favourite go to is h&m but I am loving Urban Outfitters range at the minute too.
3. Vinyl Your Bath Panel
Spotted this week in Emma Jane Palin’s bathroom update. This Jes Rose Vinyl is the perfect cover up for the unsightly bath panels most standard bathrooms come in. If terrazzo isn’t your thing there are plenty of other patterns so I’m sure one will fit your tastes. This is a genius hack and one I will certainly be trying on my boring bath panel.

4. Add Some Artwork

Who says gallery walls are just for hallways and living rooms? We probably spend a lot of time in the bathroom so why not add some of your favourite prints to liven things up. I love this gallery wall using Washi Tape by Honestly WTF. I have a couple of personal prints up in our bathroom and also this lobster print by Desenio which I’ve linked below. Because if you can’t have a lobster in your bathroom then where can you?
5. If In Doubt - Add Plants

Plants are the magic elixir for any room in my opinion. Whether it’s a couple of succulents on your windowsill, or a plants hanging from every surface - foliage is a cheap quick fix to stylise your bathroom. Take a look at Flower Lounge’s blog for plants which work best in a bathroom environment. I have found that my aloe vera thrives here as does my hanging ivy plant. And if you are a serial plant killer, ornamental cacti will do just as well. I got mine from Ikea and I love mixing them in with real plants and candles.
Hopefully that has inspired you to get something do over the weekend - even if it’s just hanging a picture frame above loo!
